paying down your HECS or your HELP debt #debt
Description
If you're thinking about paying down your HECS or your HELP debt, it still is a really good debt relative to other debts because the interest rate applied to it is the lower of the consumer price index, so inflation, or the wage price index, which is the indexation of wages going up each year.
They still are low, like I said, relative to, for example, a mortgage or a personal debt, which might have something up to 17% on car debt especially.
So if you have no other debt and it's whether or not you pay down your HECS HELP or invest, and investing still does give you that higher rate of return, but if debt also hangs above your head and you just want to get rid of it to have nothing holding you back moving forward, then you can pay it down.
Ultimately, there are better places to grow wealth than paying down a HECS or HELP debt price index.
