How to avoid financial regret when you have a family & cash flow is tight #investsmart

Description

A couple in their late thirties to early forties with four kids, one income, and a mum at home doing the most important job there is. On paper, life is full and beautiful. But they came to me feeling deflated, watching the people around them talk about their investment portfolios and overseas holidays, wondering why they couldn't seem to keep up.

The truth is, they're in a phase of life where cash flow is genuinely tight. And that's okay. I reminded them that capital preservation simply protecting what you have and staying afloat during a demanding season of life is a strategy in itself. You don't have to be doing everything all at once.

But it did get me thinking about the power of starting early. If you're in your 20s or 30s and you do have a little cash flow to spare even just a small amount each week that you wouldn't really notice putting it to work now means that by the time life gets busier and money gets tighter, you've already got something quietly compounding in the background.

It won't eliminate FOMO entirely, but it does give you that quiet confidence of knowing you started.
