Description
Cash flow is a real challenge for young families, and it can feel like you need to start investing just to keep up with those around you. But it's important to remember that saving your money and paying down debt is still doing something - it's the capital preservation phase of your life.
One of the biggest things you can do to feel better when you reach that stage is if you had started earlier. Before having a family, when you were living at home, even saving a little and having a small investment account sitting aside, compounding over time, can make a huge difference. It reduces that feeling of "I wish I started earlier, because now I just don't have the cash flow to put anything towards investing."
That's one of the most common things I see from young families - that keeping up with the Joneses mentality. But keep in mind, it's a phase of life, and what you're doing is still a strategy.
