Last week I was in New Zealand speaking on an international panel about succession planning.

My perspective was from someone who bought into a business, not exited one.

And the biggest thing that came up…
buyers aren’t just assessing numbers, they’re assessing risk.

If the business relies heavily on one person, it becomes harder to step into.

Whereas businesses with strong teams, clear processes, and shared ownership tend to be far more attractive.

Succession isn’t something you think about at the end.
It’s something you build towards over time.
