Description

Getting started with investing in Australia is actually pretty simple once you have a brokerage account set up.

First step is choosing a broking platform. There are heaps out there now, many with low or even free brokerage (the fee you pay to buy or sell investments).

Once your account is set up, you just link your bank account and you can start placing trades online. Most platforms also have step-by-step guides or videos showing you how to make your first trade.

If you’re under 18, you can’t legally have a brokerage account yourself in Australia. A parent or guardian would need to set one up in trust for you.
