Separation doesn't define your financial future: Here's how you reset

23 Jan 2026 · 1:01 · Watch on YouTube

Description

Separation can shake your financial confidence, especially if your wealth or money decisions were tied closely to your ex-partner. One of the best steps you can take early on is meeting with a financial adviser for an initial session. Most first appointments are free, and a good adviser will help you unpack your money beliefs and the behaviours that sit underneath your spending or saving habits.
Understanding why you spend the way you do, or why you hold onto money so tightly, is the foundation of rebuilding confidence. From there, projecting your future can be incredibly grounding. When you clearly see that spending a certain amount and saving a certain amount will still get you to your long-term goals, it removes the pressure of doing too much or holding back out of fear.
Getting financial control back after separation isn’t about perfection. It’s about clarity, structure and rebuilding trust in your own decision-making.
