What is the share market going to do over the next 1 to 5 years?

Very common question I receive is “what do you think the markets are going to do over the coming years?” and the honest answer is I have no idea over the short-term share markets will be dictated by fear and greed of irrational investors buying in at the top and panicking at the bottom. Over the long term I could definitely answer this with more confidence because businesses are ran by people working hard to make their products and services better. Businesses are driven by human endeavour, constantly making effort to improve. This is something that I can confidently say will boost the quality of their price and services increase their sales and therefore revenue and profitability and this is what we drive evaluations over the long-term. As investors we need to understand what drives markets in the short term and the long-term and know how to behave particularly in the short-term.
