Description

Will the capital gains tax changes affect the share market?
Banking stocks dropped after the budget announcement as investors worried about lower demand for investor loans and reduced property activity. But that is not a reason to stop investing.
Capital gains tax only applies when investments grow in value, and long term growth is exactly what investors need to stay ahead of inflation. The goal is still to build wealth through quality investments over time, even if that means paying some tax along the way.
One of the most effective ways to reduce that tax legally is through superannuation, where CGT rates can be as low as 15% in accumulation phase and potentially 0% in retirement phase.
