The government is cutting the tax rate #financialfreedom
Description
The government is cutting the tax rate from 16% to 15% on 1 July 2026 for those earning between $18,201 and $45,000, dropping further to 14% in 2027. Add Medicare and you are looking at 15% then 16% effectively.
It is something. But it is not going to move the needle on the cost of living. With rates rising, fuel costs up and everyday expenses climbing, trimming a percentage point off the tax rate is tweaking around the edges. It will not be felt by most households in any meaningful way.
